The Slide (2021)

In this project, I explored the insecurity of the continuous undetectable changes in a playful manner through screenprinting the slide as a metaphor of childish physical excitement. I felt insecure when I couldn't instantly sense the object's falling tendency, even though I knew the flimsy structure was collapsing. The slide structure is vanished but remains as 25 printed abstract impressions. A documented slide image is sliced into several shapes and reconstructed in modified color, pattern, registration, and repetition. I applied various patterns on each shape corresponding to its tendency of physicality. Each impression repeatedly shows up throughout the prints but continuously changes its features and vanishes. I visualize the ephemerality through the difference within the repetition of the slide image that I cannot monitor with my bare eyes.
